BLOOD TRANSFUSION:

1.Obtain blood product and check for:
a. ABO group and Rh type
b, Amount
c. Serial number
d. Expiration date
e. VDRL

2. Verify clients identity
3. do hand hygiene. Put on gloves
4. prepare the blood bag. Invert the blood pack gently several times to mix cells with plasma
5. Prepare the blood set. Close the clamp. Attach gauge 180r 19 needle with cap at adapter of the blood set.
6. Exposed the port of the blood bag by pulling back the tab and insert the piercing pin (spike)
7. Hang the bag , open the clamp. Squeeze the filter chamber and allow the blood flow until the needs to remove it.
8. clamp the primary IV line of plain NSS near the Y-port
9. disinfect the Y-port , uncap the G18 Needle and attach to the Y-port, secure with plaster
10. Open the clamp of the blood set and run blood slowly for the first 15 minutes at 10-15 gtts/min
11. observed client closely for 5-10 minutes. If there are no adverse reactions . regulate according to order of physician.
